Cecelia Buchanan

With over ten years experience as a project manager in industry and academia, Cecelia Buchanan has overseen the successful completion of 26 technology projects ranging in scope from one client and one developer to over 300 clients and 40 technical team members. She has managed all aspects of the project life cycle including developing client relationships, conducting requirements and needs analysis, establishing budgets and schedules, managing project performance and client expectations, evaluating projects, and presenting project results. Having undertaken projects in diverse domains, she has the demonstrated ability to come up to speed in new application areas quickly, understand clients' needs and recommend practical, technology-driven solutions.

Cecelia has a successful track record of working in a variety of programming languages and environments. She conducted seminal research on multimedia authoring systems, which resulted in a US patent, two awards from the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (Xerox PARC), several papers and presentations, and a grant to transfer this technology to a Seattle-based software company. She has also taught university-level courses on software development, object-oriented programming, and internet programming.

A strong commitment to community outreach activities that help bridge the digital divide led Cecelia to create a technology-based community service program through which students completed Web projects for members of the local community. She has also developed programs to teach K-12 students and teachers to produce Web sites and videos.

An effective writer, editor, public speaker, and listener, Cecelia has spoken before audiences of over 100 attendees and has presented technical material to diverse audiences.
